Adaptions

We fit many different types of adaptions to our vehicles, the most common of which are listed below.

Single lever push pull controls (SLPP) for people who cannot use the standard pedals on the floor of the car to propel and stop the vehicle, with SLPP controls and in some cases a steering ball the vehicle can be driven with just the person’s hands. (automatic vehicles, groups A,B,C & prestige)

Infra-Red Auxiliary controls for people who have good use of only one side of their body. With this device all the auxiliary controls such as indicators, wipers, horn Etc. can be controlled by the same hand that turns the steering wheel with all the controls mounted for use by the thumb. This type of adaptation is commonly known as Lodgesons, Reselco, remote controls or mushroom hand controls. (Automatic vehicles groups A,B,C & Prestige)

Left Foot Accelerator for drivers who only have the use of their left leg. We have a “flip style” accelerator fitted on the left hand side of the brake pedal that flips down when required. As it flips down the right hand accelerator flips up out of the way and likewise when the car is to be driven by someone who does not require the left foot accelerator simply flip down the right hand one and the left hand disappears upwards. (only on automatic cars, groups A,B,C & Prestige)

Dual Control we have also fitted dual controls to our automatic vehicles that can be used by driving schools for able bodied drivers wishing to learn in an automatic vehicle, or disabled persons who wish to learn how to drive using single lever push pull hand controls or lodgeson infra red controls (Vehicle Groups A,B & C)

Wheelchair Topbox - allows the driver of the vehicle to automatically stow his/her manual wheelchair into the roof mounted topbox from the drivers seat. These can be fitted to most vehicles. (Manual & Automatic)

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle conversions allow wheelchair users to be loaded directly in the rear of the vehicle without being transferred from their wheelchair. We mainly run Renault Kangoo or Citroen Dispatch WAVs which have the rear floor removed and a new lowered floor fitted, a folding ramp on the rear and a full set of wheelchair and passenger tiedown straps. Some of our vehicles also have lowering rear suspension to decrease the angle whilst loading the wheelchair user.
